The Alfred Adler Institute of New York is a post-graduate training institute for mental health professionals. The Institute has been the primary source of Adlerian psychology training in the Northeast for over 50 years. Our faculty and advisors include some of the most prominent practitioners and authors in the field.

The Alfred Adler Institute was a prime moving force in establishing both the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis - of which we continue to be an accredited member Institute – and the American Board for Accreditation in Psychoanalysis. The Institute is chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York.

In addition to preserving the traditional Adlerian philosophy and treatment methodology of Individual Psychology, we concentrate on demonstrating how Adler’s theories remain fresh and applicable to contemporary society.

The Institute provides post-graduate training leading to the Certificate in Psychotherapy and/or Analysis. Advanced students have the opportunity to do clinical work with clients at the Alfred Adler Community Consultation Center (the supervised training division of the Alfred Adler Center for Mental Health). Our programs also offer selected courses for non-matriculating students.

Our graduates staff the separate Alfred Adler Center for Mental Health and the Alfred Adler Community Consultation Center. Both centers set fees for patients on a graduated scale: The Alfred Adler Community Consultation Center offers a lower range than does The Alfred Adler Center for Mental Health.
